Autograph letter by Pieter van Bleiswijk regarding a proposition by His Majesty laid before the Hoog Mogende Heeren to authorize, after due deliberation, the 'overleveren' of Vaandrig [Ensign] de Witte based on the resolution of the States of Zeeland, to the 'Hof Provinciaal'. 'De meerderheid heeft in het verzoek geconsenteerd, dog Holland heeft de conclusie gecontradiceerd.' [The majority of the council agreed, but Holland 'contradicted' the conclusion], requiring further information on the case. Van Bleiswijk will be present at the further hearing on Friday next and will send further news to the 'Generaliteit'.

Pieter Abrahamsz van Bleiswijk [1724 - 1790], one of Holland's most important and influential governors, before and during the 'Patriottentijd'. van der Aa, vol. X, c. 78 - 80 : Pieter van Bleiswyk [Delft 1724 - 1790], famous for his description of the city of Delft, studied not only law, but also maths and physics, writing a dissertation [1744] on 'De Aggeribus...'[On dikes], Orangist and favoured by the Duke of Brunswijk, moving with the political wind when it shifted towards the patriot movement, and just as easily veering back to Willem V .
