How to use the search form?

The upper, longer field is for fulltext search. Some examples:
• t s eliot finds anything by, on or referring to T.S. Eliot
• t s eliot faber restricts the query to publications by the publisher Faber & Faber

Other features of fulltext search:
• exclude words: -. Example: t s eliot -faber
• or: |. Example: zeus | jupiter searches for Zeus or Jupiter
• keeping words together: quotes. Example: "South Africa": finds the exact text between quotes.
• truncate words, also called 'stemming': *. Can be used in front of, or at the end of a search term. Example erasm* finds Erasmus, Erasme, Erasmian, etc. *sopus fins both Aesopus and Esopus The search term itself should have at least 3 characters..
• grouping: between brackets. Example miller (henry|arthur) finds both Henry and Arthur Miller, but no other Millers.
• you can use combinations: "south africa"|"south-africa"or concord* -(*plane|place): concord(e), but not the (aero)plane and also not Place de la Concorde.

Advanced search: searches the different fields. The feature mentioned above are also possible.
