Usual slight browning internally. Nikolai Alexandrovich Leykin ??????´? ??????´??????? ??´???? 1841-1906. Journalist and prolific writer - mainly of gently satirical work. One of his most popular books 'Our Folk Abroad', set in Paris, poked fun at the ignorance and smug boorishness of business men.

This edition appears to be offset but with serial number 9 in ink. Used; Very Good Two José Corti, (rue de Médici, Paris) subscription slips loosely enclosed. Presentation copy signed by both authors to Fredric Warburg, George Orwell's publisher. Mary Low's first published poetry. Her 'Red Spanish Notebook': (1937), also jointly written with her husband the Cuban Surrealist poet Juan Breá, was highly praised by George Orwell. Like Orwell, Low and Breá were members of the quasi-Trotskyist POUM. Hardback.
