The Universities and Regional Life
Not Stated, Not Stated, 1943. Paperback. The author's presentation copy of this insightful lecture on society and education, inscribed lovingly by the author to his friend John. Author's presentation copy, letter loosely inserted, '9 Sep 45, My dear John, It was delightful seeing you the other day. I wish I could have spent longer gossiping with you. It was something like the old times which will never come for one again if only because on is older. I don't want to recapture first fine careless raptures, but I wish I could feel that absorption in general ideas that I once felt. I'm becoming so damned practical and pied a terre. Perhaps if the gods and the Lord Privy Seal turn their minds towards me, I might become my old self again. Which might or might nor be a Good Thing. However, here are the squibs or crackers that I promised to send you. They may amuse an idle half hour. Valentine sends her love. Yours, Bonamy&apos. Author's inscription to the head of the title page, 'John from Bonamy&apos.Bonamy Dobree's lecture form the twenty-fifth Earl Grey Memorial Lecture, delivered at King's College, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, on the 29th April, 1943.In the lecture, Bonamy combines the subjects of society and education and ponders each wonderfully and intellectually.Dobree was a British academic.
