No details of publisher or date but the style and content would suggest circa 1875. A very detailed map with field boundaries and all settlements shown and fields individually numbered. Some hand-colouring. Includes a compass rose. Occasional small ink stains which might relate to the hand-colouring. Good condition with no loss or tears. Images available.

On paper size 110 by 64 cm. Scale 1:5,280. Colour. The 1st edition was drawn and reproduced by the War Office 1944 based on a 12 inch to the mile plan. This edition has added details from air photography and from admiralty charts. A key provides information on features including roads, railways, non-metalled roads and footpaths, steps etc. Dockyards military bases and installations are shown in considerable detail. Has been handled, folded and creased. Two small holes have been repaired to the reverse with archival standard repair materials. Outside one margin there is a code in ink G4719. Good condition. Good.

On folding linen in 48 sections, size 123 by 100 cm. Scale 30 kilometres to the inch, with four other scales including Italian miles and French leagues. In addition to mainland Italy, Sicily and Sardinia the map also includes the Dalmatian coast down to Montenegro, Corsica, some of Switzerland and part of the Balkans. The map seems to reflect pride in Italian unification with its attention to detail and decoration. Heights are shown by shading or hachuring. Running along the top of the map is a plan or elevation of the various mountain ranges of Italy. Includes a detailed key. A key gives information on administrative units and boundaries, railways, canals, parks, abbeys and castles, lighthouses etc. There are also tables on the size and the population of the various counties based on the census of 1901, the area and population of the British Empire and a detailed index of towns. Sheet B on the reverse has maps of South West France and Northern Spain on a scale of 1:1,000,000 and a map of the German-Swiss frontier on a scale of 1:300,000. All in colour with a key to features such as various types of roads, railways, canals, distances and, in the case of the map of the German frontier, there are additional key features such as factories, towers, aerodromes, lanes and footpaths.
