A technical look at the geology of the aforementioned title area, as well as a description of the many mines operating in that area. In GOOD condition with moderate to heavy soiling to the covers, moderate uneven darkening and fading, some scuffing along the extremities and a few minor creases. Price in pencil on the upper front cover, as well as a small pencil notation. Interior clean and solid with some darkening to the pages. All maps appear to be in nice shape, with no apparent tears. San Francisco, UMWA/Miners Strike Labor-Community Support Coalition. Unbound. no date, perhaps 1978. Single sheet, 8 ½ by 11 inches. Two columns, with the left being a photo depicting miners in cart like vehicles. A flier raising awareness for a February 24th rally (at Plumbers Hall in San Francisco) in support of coal miners, as well as raising awareness for the union. Presumably related to the Bituminous Coal Strike of 1977-78. While a contract was negotiated, it included unfavorable stipulations for the workers, including having to start paying for health care for the first time in 30 years. VERY GOOD condition. Light toning and wrinkling. Very Good .

San Francisco, International Hotel Support Committee, Publisher. Unbound. no date, presumed late 1970s. Single sheet, legal sized, light pink paper. Printed on both sides, with bilingual text: Spanish on one side, English on the other. A flier for a demonstration to stop evictions at the International Hotel in San Francisco. Given that the last tenants were evicted in August, 1977, it appears this demonstration may have been a last ditch effort. The flier describes public support for the cause, and gives a list of four demands The International Hotel was a hotel located in the Manilatown section of San Francisco, and provided low income housing to mostly elderly Filipino residents. Beginning in the late 1960s, developers sought to evict its residents in order to build a parking garage. Students, residents and city activists organized and protested for years against the eviction efforts, including poet Al Robles. GOOD condition. The English side has a strip of white paper glued along the top edge, obscuring some of the large captions. The paper bears a partial handwritten note that doesn't appear related to the flier. Minor wrinkling/creasing. Good .

A retelling of this classic children's tale, accompanied by illustrations by Richard Andre, an alias for William Roger Snow, a British artist who practiced under various names due to personal scandals. Snow, forced to join the British Army due to the squandering of an inheritance, faced further troubles because of infidelity, and abandoned his wife, starting a career as an illustrator under an assumed name. POOR condition. Book DETACHED into several sections, with the front cover and first page each separated onto their own, and with the last page and rear cover separated but attached to each other. The intact sections are tenuous at best. A 3 inch triangle MISSING from the upper front corner of the cover. Minor soiling, fading and staining to the covers, with some creasing. Extremities scuffed and worn, with a few tears present. Interior with very minor soiling and browning, with illustrations remaining clean and bright. Some staining to the top of the second page (text), with a diagonal crease present to the pages corresponding with the missing triangle. Poor .

A single issue of this magazine that focused "on the prospects of rebuilding America," through reporting on issues, proposals, etc. Of note in this issue is an article on Black Power in Alabama, ten years later, focusing on Lowndes County and what has or hasn't changed since various civil rights organizations rooted in the county began their work. With a brief excerpt from an interview with Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture). The article was written by Andrew Kopkind, a journalist noted for his coverage of the more radical elements of the 1960s, as well as cohosting the first commercial gay/lesbian radio show with his partner. With three fold out facsimilies by the Bierstadt process: one of the original Bradford map, one of the copy in David Valentine's History of New York in 1853 reduced one half size, and one of the original Duyckinck Map at the New York Historical Society. 37pages. A discussion of the oft reproduced first map of New York City sometimes erroneously described as the Bradford map, but as the author details, may be one of the other maps mentioned. In GOOD condition. Minor soiling and rubbing to the book. Minor scuffing to the extremities. The lower 2 inches of the backstrip are MISSING, being rather jaggedly torn off. Inner text solid with a previous owner's signature in pencil on the title page and the name Duyckinck underlined on the map of its name (also in pencil). Dampstaining present to the last blank endpapers and very faintly to the last two pages of text, mostly in the gutter. Solid copy in GOOD condition. Good/No Jacket.
