Professor Morris J. Lansky Defense Fund Contribution Letter
No Place, No publisher. Unbound. No publisher, place or date. Perhaps Arizona, late 1970, early 1971. Three sheets, 8 ½ by 11 inches, with two stapled at the upper left corner. Dark yellow stock. Printed on single sides only. A letter explaining the plight of Professor Morris J. Lansky, accompanied by a short biography page. The letter details his struggles with Arizona State University after he addressed students at an anti-racism rally. The Arizona State Board of Regents brought charges against him, which after a public hearing, were dismissed. Despite this, he was dismissed from ASU in June of 1970. He was then declined for a temporary position in California due to this interaction. Various suits were brought against ASU and California. The letter sought to establish a "Committee of 1000," to raise $1000 for his legal expenses. Morris J. Lansky was a professor and was one of the first citizens to use the Freedom of Information Act to discover that he was subjected to the FBI's COINTELPRO, revealing he had been subject to illegal wiretaps and surveillance. VERY GOOD condition. Vertical fold creases present. Minor wrinkling. Very Good .
