While not used extensively during his lifetime due to the rise of radio, it served as a precursor to fiberoptic communications. Also present in this issue is a shorter article on a road engine invented by Curtis Warrington. It used illuminating gas as fuel, powering a vehicle that could travel up to 18 miles per hour.
