Stamps on title page. Dryselius (1641-1708) was a Swedish priest and scholar. This work deals with the origin of the Turks, their history, religion, customs and manners, laws, commerce, churches, etc. The illustrations are done by the printer Hultman himself. It is the first Swedish work on the history of Turkey and the Ottoman empire. Hierta 913.

This is a narrative of a voyage to South Africa, India and China. The author was a Swedish medical doctor and professor in anatomy and physiology. He was particulary interested in the natural history of the places he visited. The voyage went to the Cape and from there continued to Mocambique, Zanzibar, Aden (Yemen), Muskat, Bombay, Singapore before reaching Macao and (Whampoa) Canton. His interesting description of Canton contains information about crops and vegetation, opium smoking and its trade, foot binding, tea and bamboo, medical practices, pirates, etc. Cordier BS 2505. Jean Dupuis (1828-1912) was a French merchant who was very active seeking a trading route between Yunnan and the delta of Tonkin via the Red River. His account explains the difficulties with customs and the controversies and fights with the Black Flag Army who helped the Vietnamese government to defeat the French. In 1881 Dupuis was awarded the Delalande Guérineau prize by the Academy of Sciences in Paris. ("Mémoires de la Société Académique Indo-Chinoise de Paris. Tome deuxième"). Cordier BI 2518-9.

He was a Danish-Norwegian missionary and scholar who at a young age moved to Greenland with his family. His father Hans Poulsen Egede, known as the Apostle of Greenland, started the missionary work in Greenland in 1721.
