Warren Kerrigan and Lois Wilson. Apart from the credits and details of the Chicago engagement on the first and last pages, the program describes spectacular highlights of the film and promises the audience unprecedented thrills and romance racing "with hurricane swiftness". The film was the most popular movie of 1923 in the U.S. and Canada.

Hollywood, circa [1944]. [1944]. - An 8-1/4 inch high by 10 inch wide black & white vintage glossy photograph depicting the glamorous Marlene Dietrich. The star is attired in a low cut shiny dress with black ruffles and fishnet stockings. Holding tokens in her hand, Dietrich is seated on a roulette table, with her right leg stretched out. The number "MD-P.6" is printed in white within the bottom left of the image. There are creases to the corners and three holes are punched along the top edge. Intended for distribution to newspapers, there are glue stains on the verso where a press release was once attached and the studio's blue stamp authorizing newspapers to reproduce the photo in their publications. Very good. This a vintage publicity photo, not a reproduction. The German-born American movie star Marlene Dietrich first appeared in Josef von Sternberg's "The Blue Angel" before Paramount signed her to perform in Hollywood productions, including several directed by von Strernberg. Her glamorous and exotic looks brought her fame and she became one of the highest paid actresses of her time. Dietrich assisted French and German refugees during the war, providing housing, financial aid and assisted them in gaining American citizenship. Very good .

[Douglass, Kent]. Montgomery, Douglass
Autograph on a Colorful Fabric Used As a Tablecloth, Signed by the Romantic Lead Actor of the 1930's Douglass Montgomery [Aka Kent Douglass]
Circa [1935]. [1935]. Circa [1935]. [1935]. Good. - sc - A 51 inch high by 34-1/2 inch wide table covering, complete with wine & ink stains and melted candle wax, boldly signed in ink or black paint by the actor Douglass Montgomery, a leading man and movie star of the 1930's who starred in several MGM productions as Kent Douglass. The fabric, which was apparently used as a cover for a small center or end table is lovingly worn with some fading to the pattern. A fine bold autograph.

A stage actor in his teens, Robert Douglass Montgomery (1907- 1966) was wisked up by MGM who, changing his name to Kent Douglass, cast the dashing young man in romantic roles opposite such leading stars as Joan Crawford and Katharine Hepburn. He starred in "Paid" and "Little Women" before the studio changed his name back again. He subsequently played roles in the "Mystery of Edwin Drood", "Harmony Lane" and "The Cat and the Canary". He enlisted and served in the Canadian Army during the war. His return to the screen was hardly noticed and he fell into obscurity. Good .

Laemmle, Carl, Jr. (1908-1979). Universal Pictures producer of Dracula and Frankenstein.
Typed Letter to His Friend Jean Dalrymple in Which He Mentions the Virtuoso Pianist Jose Iturbi & the 21 Club, Signed by the Producer of Dracula and Frankenstein Carl Laemmle, Jr. , Signed "Junior" on His Personal Letterhead.
December 30, 1975. 1975. - Over 160 words typed on his 8-1/2 inch high by 6-3/8 inch wide creamy white personal stationery with his facsimile signature embossed in gilt at the top. Responding to his friend New York City Center producer Jean Dalrymple, Laemmle apologizes for not replying sooner as his "secretary has not been here". He goes on to congratulate Jean for the "great success of Jose's 80th birthday. I'm sure it took a lot of hard work" [referring to the vistuoso pianist Jose Iturbi, a close friend of Jean Dalrymple's]. He goes on to mention New York City's famous 21 Club and his forthcoming birthday" "Thanks for sending me the invitation for '21'. That is quite a bit of competition. I'm glad you are coming to my party.." Mentioning that, he too, stayed home for Christmas, he suggests that Jean should bring Jose Iturbi to his party and wishes her luck on her "new book" [Dalrymple published "From the Past Row: A Personal Account of the First Twenty-Five Years of the New York City Center of Music and Drama" in that year]. Laemmle signs with his familiar name "Junior" in his shaky aging hand. Folded for mailing, else fine. In a promotional piece for a Universal Pictures retrospective, the Museum of Modern Art writes: "Founded in 1912 by German immigrant Carl Laemmle..this series focuses on one segment of the studio's rich history - the period from 1928 to 1936, when the studio's head of production was the founder's son, Carl Laemmle, Jr. Known condescendingly as 'Junior' Laemmle and the butt of endless Hollywood jokes ('the son also rises'), the younger Laemmle was in fact a sophisticated, ambitious, risk-taking producer, who gambled the studio's finances on a series of challenging projects - and eventually lost. When cost overruns on the 1936 Show Boat forced the studio into the hands of its creditors, the Laemmle era came to an end. Brief as it was, that era yielded an extraordinary number of important films, including such celebrated classics as Dracula, Frankenstein, and All Quiet on the Western Front." The recipient Jean Dalrymple (1902-1998) was the dynamic producer and director of theater and light-opera at Manhattan's City Center. Dalrymple began her career in vaudeville, appearing with James Cagney and Cary Grant in the early 1930s. She was a founding member of the American Theatre Wing, the theatre service organization. She worked over the years as a personal manager for the likes of Leopold Stokowski, Mary Martin, Jose Iturbi, Andre Kostelanetz, Nathan Milstein, and Lily Pons. She began her work at City Center with its founding in 1943, serving as a board member and publicist. Her productions there from the 1940s through the 1960s were a revitalizing influence on the whole New York theatre scene. In 1951, Jean Dalrymple married Major-General Philip deWitt Ginder, commander of the Thunderbirds in Korea. She was a friend to Presidents and entertainment personalities throughout the world. Very good .
