The contents are lined pages, the first portion of which have been torn out. The remainder are unmarked. The covers show minor shelf wear. 'Orphan Annie' was based on the famous newspaper strip by Harold Gray. Ill.: illustrated card covers.

All parts are present, and the hinges are not split (indeed the endpapers are in very good condition), but the book is tight to open and if pressed open too far would, no doubt, split apart. There is some light scribbling on a few pages, but nothing untoward. The colour pastedown on the front board is a bit scuffed and soiled, and rubbed at the edges. Overall, the book may be read with care, and is in fair to good condition. Stories for young children, with illustrations by Sylvia Venus (Enid Blyton's illustrator), D. Burton, M. L. Clements & others. Ill.: colour, b&w illustrations.

A four page introduction by the artist precedes the sketches. Stain to cloth on lower right of rear board. Front board slightly bowed and a bit tender at hinge, but holding nicely. Cloth binding shows light wear. Neatly written previous owner's name and date to front free endpaper. Slight rippling to sketch pages, becoming more noticeable towards the end of the book. Images not stained and otherwise in very good condition. First published in November, 1934, this is the second edition published a few months later, in February, 1935. Unpaginated. Ill.: colour illustrations.
