Yeager, Dorr G.
Bob Flame Among the Navajo
New York City, Dodd, Mead & Company, 1946. 1st edition. Hardcover. pp. 191. 8vo. Bound in original orange cloth with black lettering. With sixteen pages of black-and-white photographs. The tips of the boards are slightly bumped. In between the second line of the title ('Among the Navajo') and the author's name, on the front panel of the dust jacket, a name has been written in ink in a childish hand, else the book is clean, tight, unmarked, and in near fine condition. The original dust jacket is price-clipped, rubbed at the extremities, and scuffed and somewhat soiled across the rear panel. The rear inner flap is creased. Overall, the jacket is in good condition. Yeager was born in Gilman, Iowa, in 1902, and graduated from high school there, and then went on to graduate from Grinnell College. He was a naturalist and author best known for his 'Bob Flame' series, and for his long association with the National Parks Service. His books have become increasingly collectible and, hence, increasingly more expensive to acquire in better condition. When found, they are often ex-library copies, or copies which have passed through many juvenile hands with consequent deterioration. .
