NP. 1951. Oblong 4to. (11.5 x 7.9 inches). Beautiful calligraphic manuscript in red and black. Six leaves written on both sides on hand made paper, plus four blank leaves, all sewn in with red cord. In a fine leather binding of full dark brown morocco with bevelled edges to the boards. Multiple blind ruled line borders and gilt ruled panel with floral corner pieces to the front board. A little rubbing and marking to the binding but still a very good attractive volume. ---- The carols included are; God rest you merry, gentlemen, Annunciation Carol, The Shepherd's cradle song, King Jesus hath a garden, Nowell! Nowell!, In the manger he lies, Falan-Tiding, O little town of Bethlehem, The holy well, Midwinter, The infant king, Ding dong merrily on high, A carol of adoration, The first Nowell.

Printed by J. Catnach, 2, Monmouth Court, 7 Dials. London. - No date. Circa 1830. (3.4 x 2.4 inches). 32pp. Sewn into plain yellow paper wraps. Illustrated with ten wood engraved vignettes and decorative head piece on the first page, plus one leaf with four lines of music, for voice and violin, for the song The Southern Breezes. Page edges a bit creased and rubbed and a small stain to the rear blank wrap, but overall a very good copy. Contains a short anti slavery verse, simply entitled The Slave. --- Rare. No copies listed on Worldcat or Copac. "One class of literature which Jemmy Catnach made — by reason of greater mechanical skill and a larger capital than his rivals — almost his own, was children's farthing, halfpenny, and penny books." - The history of the Catnach press by Charles Hindley. 1886. Catnach was publishing at this address between c. 1813 and his retirement in 1838.

Fine contemporary binding of full tan calf. Spine with raised bands. Compartments have gilt rules. Red title label, gilt. Board edges with decorative gilt roll design. Marbled endpapers. A small ink spot to the lower board but overall a lovely copy in a fine 18th century calf binding. Originally published in 1762, Lowth's Introduction to Gramar went through several printings and revisions by the author.

Title page with hand coloured vignette and 16 full page hand coloured plates by Atkinson (one folding), each with an accompanying page of text opposite. The text consists of excerpts from James Beresford's The Miseries of human life (1806). An uncut copy in the original brown paper covered boards with a printed paper label to the top board. Expertly re-cased with a new spine. Boards rubbed, stained and chipped to edges. Internally a few marks to a handful of pages but generally very good. --- R. V. Dobson and Co. London. 1820. FIRST DOBSON EDITION. 8vo. [2], [11]-194, [492] pages. There is an error in the pagination: 44-73 are omitted in the page numbering but the text is complete. Illustrated with engraved portraits of Queen Caroline (frontispiece) and Bergami, and a large hand coloured folding plate showing a depiction of the Lords at the trial with a legend of the individuals present. One page with a small hole to the middle of the leaf and some offsetting to the two portrait engravings otherwise a very good copy in an attractive early fine leather binding of full mid brown calf. Both boards elaborately decorated with blind tooled multiple oval design panel within twelve ruled line border. An arc and star gilt roll has been tooled around the outside of the boards. Spine with four wide raised bands, each with gilt decorations. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Board edge corners with gilt ruled lines. Marbled endpapers. All edges marbled. --- Contains a full transcript of the sensational and controversial trial, instigated by George to rid himself of his wife by accusing her of Adultery, the only way he could divorce her. --- A rare variant publication. All copies listed on Worldcat and Copac show the publisher as T. Kaygill in London and show the same text pagination and date but don?t mention the illustrations, which all bear the imprint of Dobson.

Some foxing to the blank endpapers otherwise a very good bright and clean set throughout. All three volumes in fine nineteenth century bindings of full tan calf. Spines with raised bands, the compartments ruled and fully decorated in gilt. Red and green labels, gilt. Boards with double gilt ruled borders. Marbled endpapers. All edges marbled. Some minor rubbing to edges but generally a very good copy in attractive nineteenth century bindings. The bindings are unsigned but very high quality work.
