III) has the front free endpaper torn and contains pages 413 to 602. Lithographed frontispiece of La Calle de la Merced, St. Augustine, FL. Extensive articles on Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee, focusing on the people, customs, trade and commerce, agriculture and reconstruction. Volume IV (Div. IV) contains pages 603 to 806 (two pages of ads at end). Slightly erotic lithographed frontispiece shows how 'The Low-country planter lived in a luxurious but careless way'. Articles on colleges, tobacco, state of Virginia and its partition, Mammoth Cave, Klu Klux Klan, Tennessee, B&O Railroad, City of Baltimore, 'Moral Character of the Negroes' etc. Note: pp. 775 to 780 have been torn out. Portions of pages 776 to 780 laid-in loose. Rear hinge completely broken, front hinge weak. This volume in fair condition, only. Other two volumes show light soiling and edge wear to boards, contents clean and tight; thus in good plus to just less than very good condition.
