(Einführg.) - Der berühmte Gelehrte Samuel Johnson (1709-1784), kurz "Dr. Johnson" genannt, war ein Lexikograph, Dichter u. Kritiker u. der nach Shakespeare meistzitierte englische Autor. Er war eine das literarische Leben im England des 18. Jhdts. entscheidend prägende Persönlichkeit, vergleichbar mit Gottsched in Deutschland. - Vorderdeckel etwas fleckig; Spiegel u. Vorsätze schwach gebräunt. . Vortitel mit hs. Widmung: "S./l. Wirckau (?) zur Erinnerung. Ernst Posselt. L'pool, 29.4.[19]05." (= Ernst Karl Ludwig Posselt (1838-1907), deutscher Textilkaufmann u. Kunstsammler, seit 1870 engl. Staatsbürger?) - Durchaus gutes Exemplar des liebenswert gestalteten Büchleins.
