R W Dickson:
The Farmer's Companion; being a complete system of modern husbandry, including the latest improvements and discoveries in theory and practice [2 volumes].
London: printed for Richard Phillips, 1812. First edition, complete in two hardback volumes. 8vo (24cm by 15cm), [iv], 947pp, 1pp adverts. 102 engraved plates (of 103). Contemporary full brown calf, black title labels to the spines. Please note that there are a number of condition issues with this set; the bindings are rubbed, the contents are foxed throughout, one plate (nunber 90) appears not to have been bound in, several of the folding plates (30, 40, 54, 82, 88, 103) are torn with significant loss, and several of the other folding plates are creased and/or torn. Includes the two coloured plates of grasses, although one of these (number 88) is one of the incomplete plates. Only in fair condition overall, but nonetheless this is a serviceable set of the first edition of an important work in the history of farming.
