This set was formerly in the library of the Yorkshire Archaeological Society, with their bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume. Volume 2 has been rebound about 5mm shorter than volume 1. Overall, this set is in good to very good condition. Publications numbers 86 and 89 of the Surtees Society.

Overall, this copy is in good to very good condition. An important reference work. Curiously, the auction did not take place, owing to the prevailing economic climate, and the Ellis collection was later sold en masse to Lt Col Claude Beddington.
