Annales de la Propagation de la Foi [Trans. 'Annals of the Propagation of the Faith']
Lyons, France, L'Editeur des Annales, 1845. First edition. Hardcover. pp. 536, 536. 8vo. The first 88 pages of the first volume are absent. The entire volume appears to have once been in the library of the Hospital-General, St. Boniface, Riviere-Rouge (i.e. The Red River Colony, now known as Winnipeg). It was then passed on to three other French language libraries in the Province of Manitoba, to judge from their stamps on the front free endpapers. Other than the minimal library markings, the contents are tightly-bound in half leather over marbled boards, and are in very good condition. The binding shows some wear, mainly to the extremities, but is otherwise in good, serviceable, condition. The text is in French. Two volumes bound as one containing reports and accounts from the various foreign missions of the Roman Catholic Church in France; the former of which are primarily presented in a series of letters. Countries reported on include China, Mongol Territory, Indochina and Hong Kong, Siam, Arabia, Abyssinia, Canada, Columbia, United States, Brasil, Australia, Tonga, New Caldonia, New Zealand etc. There is an index to these reports, organized by geographical area, at the end of each volume.
