Clean, tightly bound book in grey boards with red illustrations which has no inscriptions, (the 'This is the book of...' printed on the front pastedown is not completed), page 131 has old tape marks from a fore edge tear, now neatly repaired (no loss), and frontispiece is creased and chipped at edges where it was laid in for some years, now reattached. The dustjacket is creased and chipped at the edges with loss at top of spine and covers also at bottom corner of front foldover. 222 pages, 12 plates and numerous black text illustrations by Gwynedd M. Hudson + 2 red illustrations on endpapers. Undated but appears to be a later Boots edition- the British Library gives 1938 for the 222 page edition. Good in Fair dust jacket.
