BARBIERI, Olivo
Olivo Barbieri - Tunnel Mont Blanc 1965-2015. [244/500].
Ravenna, Danilo Montanari, 2015. 26.5 x 20 cm. [1],xv,[4] pp. Hardcover. Leporello with 15 plates in colour. - Edition: 500 - numbered and signed - this is number 244. - Text in English, French and Italian. - Constructed 30 years before the Channel Tunnel. the Mont Blanc Tunnel calls into question the very idea of natural borders, transforming one of the most impressive of these into an economic, social, and cultural relations accelerator. Olivo Barbieri's series of images of the tunnel depict an empty route, a hollow through solid rock that also acts subversively to break down not only natural and political borders, but also the concept of nationalism itself on the European continent, in an age when nations are facing rapidly emerging new challenges of identity, self-preservation, migration, and culture. - Fine copy

BARBIERI, Olivo
Olivo Barbieri - site specific _MARCHE 17 (earthquake) - arch Terremoto 2017 2018.
Macerata, Quodlibet, 2018. 32.5 x 24.5 cm. 64 pp. Hardcover. Illustrated in colour. - Text in English & Italian - 'Terre in movimento' is a commissioned artistic project wherein three artists were invited to offer their perspectives on the Marche region in Italy. In late 2016 a series of strong seismic shocks rocked the small towns on the slopes of Mount Vettore, places which have been inhabited since prehistoric times. The earthquakes precipitated the loss of structures and formation of ruins, yet also the creation of temporary structures of all kinds, such as shelters and storage areas for displaced people and objects. Reportages by the artists Olivio Barbieri, Paola De Pietri, and Petra Noordkamp initiate a broader, multifaceted artistic research into the metamorphosis of this landscape. - Good copy
