Decorative geen cloth in gilt and black with bevelled edge boards. some rubbing to corners and edges, Tips frayed, front paste down marred by removal of a bookplate?, front hinge cracked and opened but cover holding by the cords, coloured free endpaper followed by the half-title. A double leaf engraved title page with portrait busts of Drake, Dampier, Anson and Cook precedes the standard title page. The first signature is a little loose on the cords, but the rest of the book is tightly bound. 831pp in double columns + four folding coloured maps, 16pp catalogue at rear. Includes facsimiles of original title pages to the original works. Two pages noted with small hole in the spine margin unaffecting any text, presentable copy. Very Good/No Jacket.

Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7? - 9? tall. trsl by Geoffrey Sutton, autobiography of Lionel Terray famed for the second ascent of North Face of Eiger (1947) and a dramatic rescue on it in 1957, includes climbing in the Alps, North Face Eiger, world war two in the Alps with mountain troops, Annapurna, Makalu, Chacraraju and his time guiding, 80 photographs in b&w, 351pp, the dustjacket is rubbed to edges and has been price-clipped, on the underside of the rear panel it has some offsetting from the blue boards where has been slightly damp, this is quite minor, some pages to the rear of the book have been slightly rippled due to long dried out moisture probably just atmospheric dampness as no watermarking is apparent, The leading edge of the upper board has a few dents where something heavy has been sat on it, again this is reasonably minor, all in all a VG copy in similar dustjacket with a few short tears to edges. Very Good/Very Good.
