Originally issued in green illustrated card covers, now recently re-bound, retaining the original wraps, in a beige cloth hard-cover binding, with gilt lettering to the spine. Woodcuts. Contents show occasional light foxing, but are otherwise quite bright and unmarked, except for a former owner's name (M. E. Bassett, Bordeaux, 1931), written in red pencil on the side of the title page, and a small (25 cent piece size) circular rubber stamp, also on the title page. The original front cover appears to have been glued to the frontispiece, and the glue has darkened portions of the margins of the latter. The boards are only very slightly soiled. Overall, in good plus, to very good, condition. The text is in French. .

Mentioned in the December 1860 edition of The Publisher's Circular, as an upcoming title from A. W. Bennett. The author was compelled to involvement in the revolutions of 1848, sparked by the treachery of Ferdinand II. In early 1849, charges were laid against Nicolo and he became a fugitive. He surrendered mid-1850, his trial began in 1851 and he was sentenced to 19 years' imprisonment in November. .
