In the play Solimán challenges Carlos to settle the war by a duel; the play ends with Solimán deserting Juan Sepusio, who in turn begs the Emperor's forgiveness. Ownership inscription on title page: "De la iglesia maior de san lucar de Barrama". Oval ink ownership stamp on p.17: "Casa de Azevedo" with eagle. ***** Until the Council of Trent there was a wide variety of breviaries in use throughout the western Church. In response, however, to a decree of that Council, Pope Pius V produced the Breviarium pianum (1568), a reformed version of the medieval Roman breviary. This was imposed on all churches and religious orders except those which could show that their local rites had a continuous history of 200 years. In Spain this resulted in considerable confusion, a problem which Ruiz Alcoholado addressed in several works on the breviary. Volume 2 of the Tractado was published under the title Ceremonial romano para missas cantadas y rezadas at Alcalà, por los herederos de Juan Gracian, a costa de Juan de Montoya, in 1589.
