A Welsh language work.Two volumes bound in one. Lacking title page and each leaf up to page x of volume I, and lacking also pages xi-xii. With volume II retaining the original title page, but lacking pages 243-244.First published in 1812, and very scarce in all editions, this later edition of the hymns and psalms of Morganwg was published between 1827 and 1834.A significant figure in the Welsh community, Morganwg's aim was in part to assert the Welshness of the South, particularly his home region of Glamorgan, against the prevalent idea that North Wales represented the purest survival of Welsh traditions. Rebound in marbled paper covered boards, with endpapers renewed. Externally, excellent, with spine title label lightly lifting at rear joint. Internally, firmly bound. Lacking title page and each leaf up to page x of volume I, and lacking also pages xi-xii. Lacking page 243-244 of the second volume. Pages significantly age toned throughout, with first two leaves of volume I, and final two leaves of volume II laid down and partially restored.
