¶ Eind 2017 droeg het Teylers in Haarlem een groot aantal tekeningen en aquarellen van de Engelse Blanche Annie Douglas-Hamilton (1852-1927) over aan het Noord-Veluws Museum in Nunspeet. Hamilton woonde en werkte immers lange tijd in het nabije Elspeet. De overdracht vormt de aanleiding voor uitvoerig onderzoek naar 'de juffer', zoals ze destijds in het Veluwedorp genoemd werd. Daardoor konden interessante en kleurrijke details worden toegevoegd aan de weinige kennis die we over haar hadden. In Hamiltons leven duiken steeds twee vriendinnen op, ook actief in deze hoek van de Veluwe: schilder en naaldkunstenaar freule Ima van Eysinga (1872-1958) en bloemenschilder Chrisje van der Willigen (1850-1931). De laatste woont ook lange tijd in dat andere kunstenaarsdorp, in Laren. Ook over hen zijn opmerkelijke gegevens opgediept. De juffer, de freule en de vrije vrouwelijke vrouw is rijk geïllustreerd en bundelt veel biografische wetenswaardigheden over drie opmerkelijke vrouwen. ¶ Dit boek is een unieke visuele ode aan Joost Zwagerman, en tevens een aanvulling op zijn oeuvre. Het is een catalogus van door hem geselecteerde kunstwerken. Het bevat de afbeeldingen van de werken waar Joost iets mee had en die hij koos voor wat zijn laatste tentoonstelling zou zijn. Een deel van de keuze was ook opgenomen in zijn tentoonstelling Silence Out Loud in Museum Kranenburgh in Bergen. De teksten die Joost als inleiding, hoofdteksten en bijschriften bij de tentoonstelling maakte, vormen de basis van dit boek. De werken van circa 60 kunstenaars uit Nederland en België, en een paar van zijn grote Amerikaanse helden, zijn daarnaast voorzien van Joosts commentaar en quotes uit zijn correspondentie met deze kunstenaars._Het boek bevat een voorwoord van dichter Pieter Boskma en teksten van Pieter Bijwaard en Harald Vlugt. Een aantal portretten van Joost van fotograaf Koos van Breukel zijn opgenomen als foto essay.
