The first and second novels are a story of a farming family charting their progress from upheaval of eviction in nineteen thirty two through to relative prosperity after the close of world war two. It deals with the logistics of traditional farming methods and the privation of rural living. However, it is not a tale of hardship. The story revolves around Dorothy raised with Victorian values and has quite a large family. She is profoundly affected by the move to another farm and puts more and more work and responsibility on the children. Fred her husband is the rock of the family he attracts good fortune through his honesty. After fourteen years of marriage she broke with the area and moved away to start a new life finding her vocation as a driving instructor, continuing for over twenty years until she was forced to retire due to ill health. LOVETT, HERBERT
Cognitive Counseling and Persons with Special Needs: Adapting Behavioral Approaches to the Social Context: Adapting Behavioural Approaches to the Social Context
blue, Praeger. 1985. (ISBN: 9780275916510). Paperback, 15.6 x 0.9 x 23.4 cm. Condition good, clean, very slight wear edges of cover. This is a valuable book for supervisory level personnel who can establish policy and who will be in a position to influence others who work directly with the persons with special needs. Contemporary Psychology Far too often behavioral principles--sound enough in themselves--are applied without taking individual needs and tastes into account. Such programs either fail to change the behavior or they draw counselor and patient--teacher and student--parent and child into deeper conflict. Cognitive Counseling and Persons with Special Needs describes the effective and humane use of behavioral methods to teach social and cognitive skills to the severely and profoundly mentally retarded. This introduction and guidebook outlines general principles and offers many case studies to illustrate the concepts under discussion. Used: Acceptable.
