DRYDEN, WINDY
Invitation to Rational-Emotive Psychology
grey, Wiley-Blackwell. 1994. (ISBN: 9781897635513). Paperback, 20 x 1.5 x 25 cm. Condition good, clean ref ZKVQ Rational Emotive Psychology (REP) is an approach to psychology which considers the influence that a person's beliefs (both rational and irrational), emotions and behaviours have on his or her psychological well being. This book provides an introduction to REP suitable for those encountering the field for the first time. In the opening chapter of the book, Professor Dryden gives a brief history of the development of the approach, explains what is meant by the terms "rational" and "emotive" as they are used in REP and outlines the "ABC" framework which is at the core of REP. Later chapters examine the elements of the approach in more detail and discuss the REP view of common emotional problems. The extensive use of examples throughout the text to illustrate points makes the book highly accessible to the lay reader or beginner student. Good.

BEREITER-HAHN, J.
Biology of the Integument: Invertebrates: Invertebrates Vol 1
Filed b, Springer. 1984. (ISBN: 9783540130628). Hardcover. Condition good clean ref ZKVQ At the time of writing we also have Volume 2 The integument plays an important role in the survival of meta zoans by separating and protecting them from a hostile environment. Its function ranges from protection against injury and in fection; partlcipation in the regulation of body temperature and water balance, to respiratory activity, monitoring of the environ ment and production of signals related to behaviour. All these result from specific structural, biochemical and physiological properties of intra-and extracellular components of the integu ment. Thus its characterization can be best accomplished by a multidisciplinary approach with authors specialized in different fields of science. This multi-author book, in two volumes, provides an up-to date survey of the literature. The first volume deals with the integument of invertebrates, the second with that of vertebrates, both organized primarily on a phylum basis. As the level of knowledge on the integument of phyla differs considerably, the information provided is correspondingly either limited or con densed. For some of the smaller groups of invertebrates little information is available, as often only a few electron micrographs are to be found in the literature; on the other hand, from the large body of knowledge existing for vertebrates, particularly for mammals, no complete overview can be provided, but publica tions giving access to further information have been reviewed critically. Used: Acceptable.
