Series of 8 remarkable plates with views on Rome. After 1681 1 (numbered) Frontispiece with title written on a pedestal at centre, Minerva seated on the pedestal, flanked by a female personification of Rome and Time. On the far left the personification of the river Tevere (Tiber) with the she-wolf and Romulus and Remus. Architectural fragments and ruines on the bottom towards the right. On the background view of Rome. Inscriptions: "VOORNAAMSTE / GEBOUWEN / VANDE TEGENWOORDIGE / STADT ROMEN, / Gedrukt by Nicolaus Visscher / met Privil: vande H.H. Staten General:" and "Willem Swidden fecit" l Copper engraving on paper with margins; total 178 x 272. Very well preserved.
