It offer the reader a series of delightful recollections ranging from Edwardian days until the 1970's, touching on encounters with personalities, royals and otherwise, her narrative evokes the atmosphere of the periods of which she writes. Brought up in Europe and the new frontier state of California, Gertrude never lost the sense of being a pioneer.
