London. John Lane, The Bodley Head, 1918., In the First World War a young soldier writes to an American girl he's known for a short while. They met in Paris when he was on leave, no names are mentioned & her replies aren't included, but he mentions them. He writes about the casualties and deaths around him, and finally about his own injuries. Frontispiece is (supposedly) a b./w. photograph of one of the letters. Foreword by John Lane who explains how the manuscript came to his office. 196 pages. No d./w. Very good condition, no inscription but endpages slightly foxed, edges of cover are a little worn & corners a bit bumped. 7.75" x 5.25 1918
