Andersen was born in Odense on April 2, 1805. From his native Denmark his fairy tales wandered out over the whole world and won him a place among the greated masters of imaginative writing. This is a new translation by Keigwin, well-known English translator of Danish literature straight from the Danish text under the supervision of Andersen Museum Director Svend Larsen.
