Mary Augusta Ward (1851-1920) was an English novelist who wrote under her married name, Mrs. Humphry Ward. She was a leading figure in the Women's National Anti-Suffrage League. Her husband, Thomas Humphry Ward (1845-1926), was an English writer and journalist who wrote under the name Humphry Ward. An ink notation on the front pastedown indicates that the book was given by A. B. Burney to the library of Merton College, Oxford in 1934. Good .
