A retelling of this classic children's tale, accompanied by illustrations by Richard Andre, an alias for William Roger Snow, a British artist who practiced under various names due to personal scandals. Snow, forced to join the British Army due to the squandering of an inheritance, faced further troubles because of infidelity, and abandoned his wife, starting a career as an illustrator under an assumed name. POOR condition. Book DETACHED into several sections, with the front cover and first page each separated onto their own, and with the last page and rear cover separated but attached to each other. The intact sections are tenuous at best. A 3 inch triangle MISSING from the upper front corner of the cover. Minor soiling, fading and staining to the covers, with some creasing. Extremities scuffed and worn, with a few tears present. Interior with very minor soiling and browning, with illustrations remaining clean and bright. Some staining to the top of the second page (text), with a diagonal crease present to the pages corresponding with the missing triangle. Poor .

With a brief excerpt from an interview with Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture). The article was written by Andrew Kopkind, a journalist noted for his coverage of the more radical elements of the 1960s, as well as cohosting the first commercial gay/lesbian radio show with his partner. With three fold out facsimilies by the Bierstadt process: one of the original Bradford map, one of the copy in David Valentine's History of New York in 1853 reduced one half size, and one of the original Duyckinck Map at the New York Historical Society. 37pages. A discussion of the oft reproduced first map of New York City sometimes erroneously described as the Bradford map, but as the author details, may be one of the other maps mentioned. In GOOD condition. Minor soiling and rubbing to the book. Minor scuffing to the extremities. The lower 2 inches of the backstrip are MISSING, being rather jaggedly torn off. Inner text solid with a previous owner's signature in pencil on the title page and the name Duyckinck underlined on the map of its name (also in pencil). Dampstaining present to the last blank endpapers and very faintly to the last two pages of text, mostly in the gutter. Solid copy in GOOD condition. Good/No Jacket.

A discussion of nephrorrhaphy or nephropexy, an operation to treat floating kidneys, mentioning the procedure and techniques, as well as discussing potential remedies for relapse. Dr. Edward Wyllys Andrews was one of the founders of the Institute of Medicine in Chicago, as well as serving on various surgical societies. He was also noted for his "Andrews' imbrication operation" for inguinal hernia repair (American College of Surgeons website). GOOD+ condition.
