¶ Pierre Ochs fut 'le chef de la révolution helvétique unitaire. A Paris, Ochs ébaucha une constitution pour la République helvétique à créer. Au début de 1798 il fut président de l'Assemblée Nationale bâloise, puis proclama à Aarau, le 12 avril 1798, la constitution de la République helvétique. Il fut le premier président du sénat helvétique, puis membre et président du directoire helvétique.
