CADOO, Emil

Softcover with dustjacket. lllustrated in b/w. - Emil Cadoo(1926-2002) was one of the defining photographers of the Sixties. Cadoo found that as an African-American and as a homosexual he was more at ease in Paris... '' in Paris Cadoo also embarked in one of those great solitary quests that extend the limits of a chosen art-form. His Statue, St. Germain and Luxembourg series, and his important erotic works, witness to what Edith Piaf told him when first seeing herself portrayed by Cadoo: 'Mr. Cadoo, you are not a photographer; you are a poet with a camera'"[Janos Gat Gallery] - Dustjacket a bit worn on extremities, top edge few spots, else a good copy. CADUFF, Reto
Reto Caduff - Respects the dots.
Sturm & Drang, 2014. 30.5 x 21.5 cm. 94 pp. Hardcover. Illustrated in b/w throughout. - Swiss-born photographer Reto Caduff searched out the most beautifully freckled female models for his black-and-white homage to dotted skin. This series of portraits is a reprint of his first limited edition book, 'Freckles' (2012). Although many of the women fulfil the freckled stereotype - that is to say, they are of probable Northern European ancestry - others are an intriguing mix of races and genetic backgrounds for whom freckled skin is no less a personal identifier worn with pride. The book includes an introduction by Professor Jonathan Rees, who with his team of researchers identified the role of a specific gene in determining red hair, sun sensitivity, and freckling. - see: www.freckleray.com. - Fine copy
