Autograph Letter Signed by the President of Stevens Institute of Technology Alexander Crombie Humphreys.
Hoboken, NJ: February 2, 1903. 1903. - More than 60 words penned on two sides of of a folded sheet of creamy white "Stevens Institute of Technology" letterhead. Measuring 8 inches high by 5 inches wide, the letter is addressed to lecture tour manager Major James B. Pond. Stevens writes to Pond thanking him in advance for sending a copy of his book, "Eccentricities of Genius". Signed "Alex C Humphreys". Pond has stamped the word "BOOK" on the letter indicating that he has sent the book. The letter has been folded for mailing else fine. Alexander Crombie Humphreys (1851-1927) was an engineer who in 1902 was unanimously chosen to be the second President of Stevens Institute of Technology. As President he oversaw enormous growth in the school. Very good .

"The University of Waterloo..has one of the largest and best engineering schools in Canada..An educational foundation was established in 1977 to promote cooperative education and to develop new modes of interaction between industry and universities to further improve engineering education.". The foundation was named after Sandford Fleming, described in Legget's lecture as "a statesman engineer" and "truly one of the real builders of Canada". For a few years Fleming was simultaneously the Chief Engineer of the Intercolonial Railway from Halifax to Montreal, the Newfoundland Railway and the Canadian Pacific Railway. Very good .

A study of the career of geologist Charles Kenneth Leith [1875-1956]. Leith was head of the University of Wisconsin Geology Department for thirty years. He served as a consultant for the location and valuation of ore deposits for several mining companies and served as mineral adviser to the U.S. Shipping Board and the War Industries Board during World War I. He organized studies of world mineral supplies in the 1920s and served on many government agencies, including the Atomic Energy Commission, through the 1950s. Very good .
