Grave, F. F. Algie, 1840. Wrappers. (With original wrappers sewn in). 22 pp. Rare. l Cornelis Felix van Maanen (September 9, 1769 - February 14, 1849) was a Dutch minister and jurist. He rose to prominence under the French-dominated Kingdom of Holland, being appointed Minister of Justice in 1806 by Louis Bonaparte, and to the Council of State and as head of the Court of Appeals in The Hague in 1810 by Napoleon. He adapted to the changing political circumstances well, however, and was again appointed Minister of Justice in 1815 by King William of the new United Kingdom of the Netherlands. Along with de Nagell, he was a signatory of the Treaty of The Hague (1818), by which the British and Dutch established the Anglo-Dutch Mixed Commission Courts.[1]:391 He was active in promoting the Dutch language in Belgium and advising the King against giving concessions in the turmoil that led to the Belgian Revolution. He left office in 1842, following the abdication of King William. Willem Bilderdijk (Amsterdam, 7 september 1756 - Haarlem, 18 december 1831) was a Dutch writer, lawyer and linguist.

Scarce. l Epimachus Jacobus Johannes Baptista (Eppo) Cremers (15 June 1823 in Groningen - 27 October 1896 in Zürich) was a Dutch politician. He was Minister of Foreign Affairs from March 1864 to June 1866 and thrice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands in between 1884 and 1888. His opponent J. P. J. A. Graaf van Zuylen van Nijevelt Julius Philip Jacob Adriaan, Count van Zuylen van Nijevelt (19 August 1819 - 1 July 1894) was a conservative Dutch politician. he served as Prime Minister of the Netherlands (chairman of the Council of Ministers) from 1866 to 1868. He also served as minister of Foreign Affairs from 1860 to 1861, and again from 1866 tot 1868.

He moved to Gent, was introduced to the Flemish Movement and became chairman of the activist group ‘Jong. In his vision Flanders and the Netherlands should come under a German protectorate and a bond should be established, which would include all Germanic people. In 1917 Domela Nieuwenhuis was expelled from Jong-Vlaanderen. In October 1918 he fled to the Netherlands. Because of his pro-German attitude during the First World War the Belgian court sentenced him in 1919 to death for high treason. However, the Belgian Justice could not prosecute him in the Netherlands.
