Comala, Dramatisch gedicht van Ossiaen. vertaald door G.D. Franquinet.
Antwerpen, J.E. Buschmann, 1849, 9pp. original paper binding, binding loose, pages loose, bookplate of K. ter Laan. Ossian is the narrator and purported author of a cycle of epic poems published by the Scottish poet James Macpherson, originally as Fingal (1761) and Temora (1763) and later combined under the title The Poems of Ossian. Macpherson claimed to have collected word-of-mouth material in Scottish Gaelic, said to be from ancient sources, and that the work was his translation of that material. Ossian is based on Oisín, son of Finn or Fionn mac Cumhaill, anglicised to Finn McCool, a legendary bard who is a character in Irish mythology. Contemporary critics were divided in their view of the work's authenticity, but the current consensus is that Macpherson largely composed the poems himself, drawing in part on traditional Gaelic poetry he had collected. The work was internationally popular, translated into all the literary languages of Europe and was highly influential both in the development of the Romantic movement and the Gaelic revival. Macpherson's fame was crowned by his burial among the literary giants in Westminster Abbey. W.P. Ker, in the Cambridge History of English Literature, observes that "all Macpherson's craft as a philological impostor would have been nothing without his literary skill."

Een nieuw democritisch lied voor de vijanden der Duisternis, op het vierde eeuw feest der boekdrukkunst.
Without place, printer or date, [1824], one signature of three folded leaves, unsewn without cover, [12] pp., ruffled edges, some folded corners and some foxing but overall in good condition, a collection of 12 songs to celebrate the fourth centennial of the invention of printing with moveable type. According to the Haarlem Democriet Society (Genootschap Democriet) this invention originated in Haarlem with Lourens Janszoon Koster (ca. 1370-1440). Koster is referred to al lot in these songs, as is Haarlem. Each song is introduced by an emblem-like illustration: e.g. a winged capital A, the Haarlem city crest, a burning candle, the Dutch lion, Oeroboros (snake) and a printing press. Lit: Sliggers, Bert (ed.), "De verborgen wereld van Democriet. Een kolderiek en dichtlievend genootschap te Haarlem 1789-1869" (1995).
