A very bright, unworn copy that was in the same family from new until this year. Very Good.

Aldergate, London: James Young, for O. P. And are to be Sold By John Saywell, 1653. 1st, 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Full-Leather. Originally published in Latin, this is the English translation. Pp.[1] blank, title page, [8] "The Preface to the Reader", [3] "Clarissimo.", [20] "A Table of the Principal Things as are contained in these Five following discourses", 211, [2] advertising for additional titles sold by Saywell, [1} blank, size about 3 1/2" X 6", very old full-leather binding, possibly original? There are no fixed front nor rear endpapers. The front free endppaper is lacking an inch across the top and has a few small holes lower down. The title page is nicely preserved with a couple of tiny holes near the bottom obscuring 3 or 4 letters in the printing information. Overall the printed text is quite clean and very readable, with occasional spotting. Pp. 125-126 has a significant tear with old cello-tape repair, but is complete. Quite a decent copy in original un-restored condition. Only 18 copies found in WorldCat. Good.

Fair copy with original binding, no repairs, but quite worn with shaken hinges and bottom of backstrip missing. Last few leaves seem to be missing. A number of autographs dated 1885 inscribed on the front and rear endpapers. Fair.

A superb, very high quality binding with minimal wear to extremities, not worn through at all, titles not faded. Inner hinges cracking slightly but very solid and not loosening at all. No owner's marks, gilt edges very glossy and unworn. Overall a spectacular Nearly Fine copy in a stunning binding. Scans available upon request. Very Good.

(Iv), 90 pp. (2) ads, 12mo, plain beige paper-covered boards. Binding and endpapers appear to be original. Leaves untrimmed. Contents are VG with no serious flaws. Contemporary armorial bookplate and smaller owner's label on front endpaper. Boards are very worn with the paper covering worn away along the edges. Backstrip brittle with some missing pieces. Hinges firm. Book appears to be in original condition with no sign of restoration or repair. The contents give an overview of the Baron's travels and outline his further proposed publications. Scarce item. Very Good.

Very Good copy with modest wear to extremities, gilt very bright, binding holding well, except front external joint starting to crack a bit at the top. Presentation plate on fep to an Upper Canada College student, dated 1933. Internally Fine, with minor foxing to blank endpapers. Some "tide mark" stains to the fore-edge of the text block, not affecting text. Boards slightly bowing. A very atttractive example of this book acquired from the original owner's family. Spine has five raised bands, gilt spine titles, and "1890" stamped at the base. Original marbled endpapers, aeg. A superb set with no owner's names, stamps or other markings to the contents. Hinges firm, joints undamaged, gilt edges and spine titles are very fresh and only very slightly worn, leather not worn through at extremities. Only noticeable flaws are some fading to the leather along the edges and minor wear to the tips. It's doubtful that a more attractive set is on the market. Photos can be provided. Very Good.
