Spines and edges lightly chafed, minimally affecting the gilt detailing. Some age-spotting on the boards. A previous owner's name sticker is inside each volume's front cover. Some pencil notes on volume I's blank endpapers have been erased, but are still faintly visible. Many pages foxed, but otherwise, the text is unmarked. The binding is secure across the set. The very thin ribbon page markers are brittle but still present. Addison and Steele's THE SPECTATOR (in six volumes) and THE GUARDIAN (in two volumes). Each volume measures approx. 6.7" x 4.3.

Previous owner's neat bookplate inside the front cover. A tiny closed tear on page 219 has been delicately repaired. Foxing on the plates and surrounding pages, plus some mild age-related blemishes and smudges here and there. Otherwise, text unmarked and binding quite secure.
