An introductory history outlining past events and current concerns as well as capturing the essence of Maine as a place. and a people. Clark, General Wesley K., former Supreme Allied Commander, Europe,
Winning Modern Wars: Iraq, terrorism, and the American empire.
NY, Public Affairs, (2003). 1st ed 1 pts. VG in VG DJ. Vital mistakes in pre & post war planning cost billions of dollars but went unnoticed. More American troops died after. the war was declared over than during the fighting. Most flawed was the logic that an attack on Iraq should become the key to American security. Clark shows it was not. Moreover, by pursuing the war in Iraq, the real war against terror was subordinated & much of the enemy allowed to regroup, re-energized by an unnecessary campaign in one of the world's most sensitive regions. A new approach to winning this war is in order, and urgently needed.
