The village surgeon
Copy after a painting by Adriaen Brouwer at the Alte Pinakothek in München with some modifications. A village surgeon is operating on the arm of a patient sitting in an interior, assisted by another man standing behind doctor and patient. The engraver enlarged the scene on the bottom, making the foot of the patient visible, as it leans on the bottom of the chair he is sitting on. The shelf hanging on the right from the wall has been removed. In its place a bagpipe hangs and a recorder, from the original composition. l Engraving on paper, pasted on thick laid paper; total: 207 x 212 mm. Not in Hollstein.

Shepherd playing a transverse flute while riding a cow. Shepherdess walking close to him, dancing on the notes he plays. Stream of water in the center towards the back. Ruines on the left, a dog on the right. On the background mountains. In an interior of an inn a peasant man seated at a table and smoking a pipe while holding a glass. To the right a jug is resting on the table. Behind the man a woma is holding a glass.
