Willem Gooijer publiceerde in 2008 een omvangrijke studie naar de hoogte- en dieptepunten in de filosofische traditie, getiteld: De tempel van Delphi. Drie jaar later schreef hij 'Ik ben Odysseus', een eigenzinnige visie op de inhoud en de betekenis van oude Griekse mythen. En in 2013 verscheen Het voorbij tegemoet, een boek over de dood waarin niet de dood centraal staat, maar de wijze waarop de mens met de sterfelijkheid is omgegaan.
