Title page, 20 pp. of text, followed by an inserted smaller pamphlet titled "Ursprung der Buchstaben Gutenbergs" (by the same author and dated 1900 with appx. 40 pp text incl. 16 tabels and one large bw plate). This is then followed by mounted plates 1 - 53. Each plate bears a perforation stamp through the lower right hand portion. Part of a 5-volume or part set that was composed of 270 mounted plates. Oversized and heavy. Good, with noted exceptions. Plates are clean and vibrant. They have uniformly become detached from the binding en masse. First two or three sheets have missing corners, no plates are damaged from this.
