BURNETT, DAVID / HERBERT, VALERIE.
Chilton. The First Three Thousand Years. A History By David Burnett. Edited By Valerie Herbert.
Sudbury: Printed by Lavenham Press, for Sudbury Museum Trust, 2015 . 0. First Edition. A fine illustrated book. 29.5cm x 21cm x 1cm. [2pp.]/pp.149. Clean illustrated card covers with a design by Robin Drury. Illustrated endpapers. Clean English text throughout. Profusely illustrated with both coloured and black & white illustrations. "Chilton (Sudbury, Suffolk), is an unusual parish, lacking a clear centre - Just a church, the hall. a scattering of farms and a few houses and cottages. Historically it was regarded as little more than an extension of Great Waldingfield while in modern times Chilton has been under massive assault from the residential and industrial expansion of Sudbury. One might speculate that Chilton, already much changed could well be part of Sudbury in the future. However, the history of the parish stretches back over 3000 years and many generations have lived out their lives within its boundaries. I hope that the reader will agreee that theirs is a tale worth telling." - David Burnett - September 2015.
