9780099583431 Virginia Woolf 11344, The Waves
Virginia Woolf 11344
The Waves
Vintage. Paperback. Pp: 199. The Waves is one of the greatest achievements in modern literature. Commonly considered the most important, challenging and ravishingly poetic of Virginia Woolf's novels, it was in her own estimation 'the most complex and difficult of all my books'. This edition will be the most authoritative, most fully collated and annotated text available to scholars to date, and for considerable time to come. It maps the text of The Waves from the first British edition to all other editions published in Woolf's lifetime, as well as to all extant proofs. The text is presented in clearly readable form, with page-by-page direction to emendation, variants, and notes. The substantial introduction includes a detailed account of the novel's composition, publication and early critical reception. There are extensive explanatory notes on the text, a full chronology of composition and publication and a more general chronology covering Woolf's life and works. ISBN: 9780099583431. Cond./Kwaliteit: Ramsj.

Virginia Woolf 11344
The Waves
Penguin UK, 2019. Paperback. Pp: 288. 'Clear, bright, burnished. the moods that it expresses are a true kind of poetry' The New York TimesTracing the lives of a group of friends, The Waves follows their development from childhood to middle age. While social events, individual achievements and disappointments form its narrative, the novel is most remarkable for the rich poetic language that expresses the inner life of its characters: their aspirations, their triumphs and regrets, their awareness of unity and isolation, and their questioning of the meaning of life itself. Perhaps more than any of Woolf's novels, The Waves conveys the endless complexities of human experience.Edited with an Introduction and Notes by Kate Flint. ISBN: 9780241372081. Cond./Kwaliteit: Goed.

[Virginia Woolf] Bell, Vanessa, Original Ceramic Tile Presented to Virginia Woolf by Vanessa Bell Her Sister. One of a Kind
[Virginia Woolf] Bell, Vanessa
Original Ceramic Tile Presented to Virginia Woolf by Vanessa Bell Her Sister. One of a Kind
N.P.(London), Vanessa Bell, 1926. First Edition. Vanessa Bell. First Edition. [Virginia Woolf] Bell, Vanessa. 1926 EARTHENWARE TILE. n.p. 1926. 6" x 6" mounted and framed; entire measurement 11 1/4 by 11 1/4 inches. Extraordinary tile created & executed in enamels by Vanessa Bell given by her to her sister Virginia Woolf as a Christmas Gift. The multi-coloured tile inscribed with: "Virginia, December 25, 1926". Everything that the spirit of Bloomsbury means at its best - A superb example of VB's artistic talents and in its 36 sq. inches a summation of their close relationship as sisters, author and artist. This unique artifact epitomizes the bond between two extraordinary sisters, artist and author. Virginia Woolf was still polishing To the Lighthouse in December of 1926 when Vanessa Bell gifted this personalized handmade multi-coloured tile to her. The lettering is a rich blue, the decoration in green, purple, brown and black. The tile was auctioned in 2002 as part of the estate of Louie Mayer, the woman who had been the Woolf's cook at Monk's House in Lewes for 34 years. It has been in private hands since then. Could there be anything more captivating. The "Bell Tile" as well as Virginia Woolf's Walking Stick found on the banks of the River Ouse, were sold at Lewes Auction, March 12th 2002. The Walking Stick now part of the Berg Collection at the New York Public Library. The "Bell Tile" somehow eventually escaped to private hands. Ill.: Vanessa Bell.
