The head and tail of the jacket's spine are slightly chipped with a few tiny tears to the edges and soiling to the rear panel. The covers of the book are slightly rubbed with a thin white stain or scratch to the rear cover. [x] & 214 pages. Very good.

The second printing of this book which was originally published in 1943 with "[b-I-47]" on the copyright page. Very good .

Owner signature of the reviewer on the endpaper, Beverly Layman of the University of Virginia, with a small ink date and the initials "VQR" (Virginia Quarterly Review) in the gutter of the title page. The dustwrapper, designed by E. McKnight Kauffer, has the typical fading to the spine with the word "Net" completely faded as well as some staining toward the bottom. Near Fine in a Very Good dustwrapper. Scarce as a Review Copy .
