J. H. Price; David St. John Thomas
Collected Railway Timetables
Newton Abbot, London & New Pomfret, David & Charles, 1985-87. Cloth. A collection of three new editions of various railway timetables and guides, all in facsimile format from the original guides from between 1922 to 1939. These three railway guides were popular and long-running throughout the U.K.; Bradshaw's published its first timetable in 1839, the ABC in 1853 and Cook's Timetable in 1873: all but Cook's have ceased publication, with Cook's Timetable having been purchased from Thomas Cook in 2013 before the company's collapse.'Cook's Continental Timetable' is for August 1939.'ABC Alphabetical Railway Guide' is for July 1923.'Bradshaw's Railway Guide' is for July 1922.Each is complete with an unclipped dust wrapper.Every volume has countless pages of advertisements to the rear and start of the work. Facsimiles of the original timetables, providing an exciting insight into transport and trains in the early twentieth century. In the publisher's original full cloth bindings, with unclipped dust wrappers. Externally lovely. Dust wrappers are in excellent condition, with just a little sunning to the spine of 'Cook's Continental Timetable' and otherwise the slightest bumping to the tails of the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine . Ill.: None. Near Fine/Near Fine.
