Wraps, bound in library cardstock covers. 39 pp. A piece providing an overview of the events and history surrounding the story of Hannah Duston, looking at the machinations between English and French settlers, as well as the Iroquois and Abenaki tribes and their allegiances. Corning uses stereotypes and racist caricatures to portray Native Americans, and eventually considers the events surrounding the capture of Hannah Duston, and her subsequent escape via the murder of ten Native Americans. Corning notes that those such as Cotton Mather used this story to promote patriotism in the US, and to foment animosity toward Native Americans, and briefly tries to ascertain fact from fiction in the story. FAIR condition, ex-library. Pamphlet bound with tape in library cardstock covers. These bear stamping and pastedowns, and are heavily worn along the extremities.
