Black and white etching style portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. According to an online article on the Montclair Local website, written for a 2017 exhibition of his work, Wabembe (Carl A. Whiteurs), was an artist who was active in the Pan African movement, and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he was called the Michaelangelo of the Air Force. He did commission work for Muhammad Ali, among others, and had artwork on the cover of an Amiri Baraka book. FAIR/GOOD condition. Diagonal creases at the corners, with a small triangular piece missing from the lower right corner. Minor tearing and bumping along the extremities, with some associated wrinkling and creasing. Minor toning and soiling. Small dampstain in the lower margin. The wear is almost entirely relegated to the blank margins, leaving the portrait attractive looking. Fair .
